Abstract

Germicidal preparations consist of aqueous dispersions of p tertiary amyl phenol together with other germicidal phenolic bodies. It is stated that the germicidal effectiveness is greater than the arithmetic mean of the effects of the individual components. Mixtures of p. tertiary amyl phenol with phenol, cresol, xylenol, or their chlorinated derivatives are specified; these are dispersed in water by means of sodium, potassium, ammonium or other soluble soap prepared from corn oil, olive oil, linseed oil, or castor oil, or mixtures of such soaps. Scents, surface tension modifiers, and bland oils may also be added. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers also to aqueous dispersions of p. tertiary amyl phenol with other germicides in general, or without any additional germicidal ingredient. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
