Alarms, low-water.-A float 4 in a chamber 1 in free communication with a boiler opens a valve 12, when the boiler water level falls below a predetermined point to allow steam to pass through a pipe 16 into a cylinder 14 beneath a piston 17, which then rises and lifts a lever 19 opening the boiler pressure-relief valve 15. At the same time, the steam passing the valve 12 sounds a whistle 20. The float rests upon a plunger 21 supported in a socket 22 upon a spring 23.
