Alarms, high and low water.-In feed-control apparatus of the kind described in the parent Specification, the constant pressure side of the flexible diaphragm 3 operating the relief valve h is provided with a drain pipe as well as the variable pressure side of the diaphragm. In a water-level alarm apparatus, the relief valve h is replaced by a valve allowing steam to pass to an alarm whistle or a fuel shut off device when the boiler water level rises above the lower end of pipe a or falls below the lower end of the pipe 8. Feed control apparatus and level alarm apparatus may be so combined that their diaphragms have a common steam side. The drain pipes b, 9 from the opposite sides of the diaphragm open into the water space of the boiler through a common connection. The valve h is operated by a lever e the free end of which is pressed against the centre of the diaphragm by a spring c.
