Abstract

280,049. Parkinson & Cowan (Gas Meters), Ltd., and Thorp, F. Dec. 8, 1926. Gas meters.-The stop valve a in the gas inlet passage of a wet gas meter is closed when the level of the sealing liquid falls below a predetermined level by a float f attached to the valve stem c and is also closed when the level of the sealing liquid rises above a predetermined level by a float t which is provided on its stem s with a collar r adapted to operate a lever to engage a collar n on the stem c. The lever arm q engaged by the collar r may be longer than the arm o engaging the collar n or the float t may be of greater buoyancy than the float f in order to obtain the leverage necessary to depress the float f in the liquid. The float f is arranged in a chamber e which communicates at i with liquid space of the meter and by a pipe j with the gas outlet passage k. The chamber containing the float t is subject to the inlet gas pressure and is connected by a pipe u to the bottom of the liquid space of the meter so as to drain off any condensation water collecting beneath the liquid.
