Abstract
326,892. Chalmers, J. W., and Molins Machine Co., Ltd. Dec. 27, 1928. Affixing stamps and like small sheets. - A machine for applying stamps, band &c. to two or more sides of a packet comprises means for applying adhesive to a separated stamp &c., applying the stamp to one side of the packet and means for supporting the projecting ends of the stamp by an air current prior to its being folded on to the other sides of the packet. The machine, which is similar to that described in Specification 305,684, comprises means for feeding the stamps from a pile 4, Fig. 1, applying adhesive thereo, and applying the stamp by a roller 3 to a packet 1, fed by pushers 2 on a conveyer. The projecting ends of the stamp are supported by air currents suppled by a pipe 9 to a recess in an adjustable guide 7, Fig. 3. The current is directed to a guide 11 which deflects it upwardly, and may be supplied through holes in the bed of the machine. The packets are taken from the conveyer by wheels 12 and pushed into a magazine 13, the leading projecting end being folded underneath the package by a tucker. The remaining projecting end is folded by the succeeding package.
