Abstract

321,437. Chalmers, J. W., and Molins Machine Co., Ltd. July 9, 1928. Affixing stamps and like small sheets. - A machine for applying stamps, labels &c. to packets comprises means for feeding the stamps to separate adhesive applying means which feed them to means for affixing the stamps means consisting of an air blast being provided for folding the ends of the stamps around two or more sides. The stamps are fed pneumatically from a pile 1 to a roller 4 which, with an oscillating roller 5, feeds it to a roller 6 moistened by a gum roller 8. The stamp is fed from the roller 6 to a roller 7 which grips the stamp by suction or mechanical grippers, and applies it to the end of a packet 10 fed by pushers 12 on a conveyer. The ends of the stamps are folded by an air blast from a nozzle 13, the packets being delivered to a channel 17, where they are crowded together to effect the completion of the process. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 8799/08, 198,857, and 305,684.
