Vacuum tubes.- A tube 3 containing argon, neon, or other rare gas and adapted to emit ultraviolet rays is bent in zigzag fashion or into a spiral to form a number of convolutions or laps lying close together in a plane, and is positioned within and at or near the mouth of a cap or hood 4 adapted to be held in the operator's hand. The ends of the tube containing the electrodes 2 lie behind the ray-emitting part of the tube.
