482,012. Discharge apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., FRANCIS, V. J., and RYDE, J. W. Feb. 5, 1937, No. 3485. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] In a high-pressure metal-vapour device of the type having activated starting electrodes and non-activated running electrodes a baffle is arranged between a starting and a running electrode which increases substantially the amount by which the inter-starting electrode path exceeds the inter-running electrode path. In one form, coated tungsten helices forming the starting electrodes are slipped over tungsten rods forming the main electrodes and tungsten or thoria discs perpendicular to the rods rest against the inner ends of the helices and serve as baffles. Specifications 444,545 and 472,658 are referred to.
