Abstract

325,546. Rose, A. G., and Rose Bros. (Gainsborough), Ltd. Nov. 21, 1928. Discharging - devices for endless-belt conveyers. - Endless belt conveyers for carton-forming machines, wrapping machines and the like of the kind in which formers or pushers on the endless belt engage the cartons &c., are provided with stripping fingers travelling along the sides of the belt and so driven as to first engage the cartons at the belt speed and then to move at an accelerated speed so as to discharge the cartons ahead of the belt. The formers 11 on the endless belt 10 engage the cartons 12 which rest on supports 15 on lateral chains 13 driven by sprocket wheels 14. A driving shaft 22 rotated at a uniform speed drives an offset shaft 19 at a varying speed through a crank-pin 25 engaging a slotted crank 27 on the driven shaft, which drives the sprocket wheels through bevel gearing 18. The gearing, is arranged so that stripping fingers 16 on the sprocket chains first engage with the cartons at the belt speed and are then accelerated so as to discharge the cartons ahead of the endless belt on to another transversely arranged conveyer-
