Abstract

737,083. Endless conveyers. JOY-SULLIVAN, Ltd., and .MARR, D. July 14, 1952 [July 11, 1951], No. 13779/51. Class 78 (1). A conveyer belt or chain travels along the bottom of an impervious materialcontaining channel-like pan arcuate in a horizontal plane and extends over the full width of the pan. As shown, a curved scraper conveyer unit is made up from the sections A, B, C and D, the angle between sections A and D being determined by the number of sections B, C. The scrapers are mounted on a single chain 8 flexible in both horizontal and vertical planes and passing over chain wheels at the remote ends of sections A and D. Section A may have its own driving motor or as shown be coupled by a sprocket chain 7 to sprocket 2 on the end shaft of a receiving conveyer unit, this end shaft being slidable by screws 3 to tension the chain of this receiving unit, in conjunction with a further sprocket 6 which can be adjusted to maintain the tension of the sprocket chain 7. A double chain scraper conveyer may be used in place of the chain 8, a differential gear being incorporated between the two chain wheels in section D to allow for the different speeds of the chains on the outer and inner sides of the curved sections B, C.
