Abstract

325,536. Rushton, G. Nov. 20, 1928. Axles, adjusting longitudinally of vehicle.-A tractor or other self-propelled road vehicle is provided with alternative mountings adapted to receive the axle of a pair of steerable road rollers in order to permit adjustment of the turning circle. In the construction shown, the axle 14 of the steering wheels may be connected by a central pin 22 to either of the sets of lugs 20, 21 spaced apart longitudinally of the vehicle to give either a short or a long wheelbase.. The axle is thus free to rock transversely but other movements are prevented by radius rods 18 connected by a pin to the set of lugs 20, 21 not in use by the axle. The radius rods 18 will be arranged forward of the axle when the latter is pivoted to the rearmost lugs 21.
