1302693 Vehicle steering gear MOULTON DEVELOPMENTS Ltd 21 Feb 1969 [21 Feb 1969] 9441/69 Heading B7H A heavy road vehicle has front pairs of tandem wheels 1, 11 and 2, 12 which are steered by an arrangement including a bevel gear-box through which a steering column 21 drives respective pinions in mesh with racks 3, 13 each of which is connected at each of its ends by a track link 4 or 14 and a steering arm 5 or 15 to one of the associated wheels, and is positioned ahead of the wheel centres with the steering arms extending forwardly from the associated stub axles. One, or both, racks may be powerassisted. The steering arms of the rearmost pair of wheels may be larger than those of the foremost pair. The wheels are independently suspended.
