Baffles.-A helical baffle for the firetubes or other heating tubes of a boiler, drying drum, oven &c. comprises units d having a common helical surface and held together by grooves t and tongues a extending along opposite sides of the unit and central bolts c The units and bolts are of fireproof material. In a Lancashire boiler one or more of the units are arranged at the rear end of the flue to increase the velocity of the gases and prevent deposit of dust.
