325,176. Jackson, L. Mellersh-, (Brown, T. H.). May 11, 1929. Locking.-A lock nut, having a split 11 throughout its length, has an hexagonal upper portion 8 and a conical portion 9 carrying a rib 10, the outer surface of which fits the conical bore 6 of surrounding member 5. This member is screwed on to the bolt to be locked by the threaded portion 7. Rotation of the portion 4 relative to the member 5 on the bolt, causes the former to grip the bolt firmly. The part 4 may have its internal bore slightly smaller than the diameter of the bolt to enable a spring action to give further grip.
