Locking nuts and bolts.-Self-locking screwthreaded 'members capable of reversible engagement are formed with the axial distance between adjacent turns of the thread or one member, such as the bolt d, Fig. 2, greater than the axial thickness of the thread on the other member, such as the nut c, whilst the top or bottom of the thread on one member, in this case the bottom ef of the bolt thread, is inclined to the axis. Figs. 6, 13, 17 illustrate others of the forms which may be used, in all of which the thread on one member is longitudinally symmetrical. British Specification 242,299 and French Specification 585,894 are referred to.
