Abstract

324,469. Lord, J. Dec. 1, 1928. Pneumatic separating.-Apparatus for separating and grading granular materials comprises a hopper a from which the materials are fed by a roller band hinged, spring-controlled gate c so as to fall in a wide stream across, an air current issuing from a pipe q, adjustable louvres f being provided in the pipe to regulate the direction of the air-current with respect to the falling stream of material. An adjustable, board e above the air pipe receives the material leaving the hopper. The grades of the material are collected in a series of hoppers g. An adjustable board h divides the two first hoppers and an adjustable baffle j is disposed between the second and third. Adjustable louvres k may be arranged above and between the succeeding hoppers and at the tail end of the machine a connection n is provided with a fan p which may return the air to the inlet pipe q. An expansion chamber o with a conveyer o<1> for discharging deposits therein may be arranged in the connection n.
