Abstract
522,805. Pneumatic separating. NAIROBI COFFEE CURING CO., Ltd., and ROBSON, P. B. Dec. 16, 1938, No. 36744. [Class 117] Granular material such as coffee is fed in succession through a number of air currents passing upwards through conduits 3, which carry the light or broken grains into a common expansion chamber 14 through passages 12. At the feed end of the machine and at each stage, the grain is collected in hoppers 10, from which it is fed into the air stream by rotating fluted rollers 5. The cleaned grain is collected in the hopper 20 from which it is delivered by a two way shoot 21, 22 with a pivoted gate 23. The light or broken grains are delivered by hopper 16 with a shoot 15, and the air escapes at the top 44, The conduits 3 are formed at their upper ends with a double curve and are adjustable transversely at their lower ends by rods 41 so as to vary the effect of the air streams. The passages 12 are curved as shown at 36, and the partitions are provided on their sides towards the chamber 14 with inclined surfaces 37. The conduits all lead from a common passage which is supplied with air from a fan 2 the inlets of which are adjusted by plates 51.
