Abstract

810,630. Pneumatic separating. CABOT, Inc., G. L. Dec. 3, 1956 [Jan. 31, 1956], No. 36825/56. Class 117 Particulate material e.g. carbon black, is fed from a hopper 16 over a baffle 18 and into a container 10, and slides in a continuous cascade over sloping steps 26, 28 and 30 extending across the whole container width. Air is supplied through an inlet 24 and passes through upwardly indined orifices or slots in risers 32, 34 and 36 and is drawn, together, with suspended lighter particles, through an outlet 20 by a fan. Additional air is drawn into the container through louvres 44 and flows over the cascading material to the outlet 20. The heavier material flows through an outlet 22 to a screw conveyer.
