Clutches, ratchet.-The driving or driven shaft 10 carries an eccentric 12, and the driven or driving shaft 11 a concentric drum 15, a continuous, split, or segmentally-divided ring 19 being interposed between and adapted to bear on the mutually-eccentric clutch surfaces 13, 15. Continuous friction between the ring 19 and the cylindrical or other surface of the drum 14 causes it to become wedged under torque. A manuallycontrolled lever 24, pivoted on a bracket 22 on the eccentric 12, has arms 25, 26 adapted to be withdrawn from or respectively engaged with stops 20, 21 on the ring 19, whereby the clutch is set for bidirectional drive or free-wheeling in either direction.
