Cigarette-making machines.-Tobacco fed from the hopper 10 is removed by the picker 16 from the carded roller 13 and then projected over a large area of the cylindrical surface of a conveying roller or belt 19, either by means of a vaned roller 17 or a. stream of compressed air issuing from a tube 29 adjacent to a directing plate 30. Stratification of the fibres according to size and weight is thus effected, and may be repeated before the material falls into the channel 27. Differing speeds may be imparted to the rollers or belts 19.
