Abstract
366,046. Cigarette-making machines. EBCO MACHINE CORPORATION, 345, West 40th Street, New York, U.S.A.- (Assignees of Karich, R. R. ; 8519, 80th Street, Jamaica, Long Island, New York, U.S.A.) July 24, 1930, No. 22380. Convention date, July 27, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 130.] To impart to tobacco movement in the direction of motion of a cigarette paper, deflecting means are arranged in a shoot which delivers tobacco discharged from the carding mechanism on to the web of cigarette paper. Carded tobacco is removed from a drum 20 by a picker roller 31 and a comb 133 and delivered into a shoot 32 in which curved fins 40, 41 secured to the walls 36, 37 propel the tobacco in the direction of travel of the cigarette paper 33 which is supported by a plate 38. The walls of the shoot are removable and the shoot is positioned in plates 43, 44. Fins may be formed on the plates 43, 44 as continuations of the fins 40, 41. In a modified construction, Fig. 9, rotating screws 63, 64 impart the necessary movement to the issuing tobacco. In another construction, the screws are replaced by belts moving parallel to the direction of travel of the paper ; the faces of the belts converge downwardly and the belts embrace pulleys mounted on relatively inclined shafts.
