Abstract

321,694. Auer, L., and Stamberger, P. May 10, 1928. Addition to 321,693. Emulsions, making.-The process of vulcanization of unsaturated organic isocolloid substances containing unsaturated acids such as fatty oils, for example linseed, wood oil, resins, naphthenic acids &c. described in the parent Specification, is applied to unsaturated organic substances which have been modified by treatment with " electrolytes " such as alkalis, salts of organic or inorganic acids, metallic peroxides &c. The modified substances or their solutions in benzene &c. are mixed and heated with sulphur, and the sulphur bearing product is emulsified with an aqueous medium which may consist of an oil emulsion in water, an aqueous glycerol or starch solution, to which dispersing agents such as soaps, sulphonated oils, albumen, saponin, phenols, &c. may be added, and the emulsion is then heated under pressure. Specifications 257,243; 287,943, 289,414, [both in Class 91, Oils &c.], 289,415, 318,562; 321,689, 321,690, 321,691, [all in Class 91, Oils &c.], and 321,692 are referred to.
