Abstract

258,266. Gallois, J. Sept. 11. 1925. [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Sizes.-A size for threads comprises an aqueous emulsion of drying oils. Linseed oil, " poppy oil " and " soja oil " may be used in conjunction with emulsifying agents such as soap, saponine sulphoricinates, recinoleates and their derivatives. The emulsion may be diluted with water or dilute solutions of soap, carrageen or gelatine. The threads are immersed in the size, dried, and then treated at 30-40‹ C. for about 36 hours. The coating may be removed by treatment with alkaline water.
