Abstract

280,989. British Celanese, Ltd., and Ellis, G. H. July 27, 1926. Yarns and threads, treating with liquids.-Fabrics made of or containing cellulose esters or ethers are rendered resistant to laddering by simple or repeated impregnation with aqueous solutions or dispersion containing at least 8 per cent. by weight of one or more of the following substances :-(1) higher fatty acids, e.g. oleic, stearic and palmitic acids and sulphonated, or other derivatives thereof containing salt-forming groups (e.g. the sulphogroup or carboxyl-group or both) such as sulphoricinoleic acid or other sulphated fatty acids and soluble salts of such acids or derivatives, for instance their alkali or ammonium salts or mixtures of two or more of such acids and/or derivatives and/or salts; (2) sulpho-aromatic fatty acids, e.g. sulpho-benzene stearic acid, sulphophenol stearic acid, sulpho-naphthalene stearic acid, sulpho-benzene-ricinoleic acid, sulphophenol-ricinoleic acid, sulpho -naphthalene -rici - noleic acid, and sodium or other soluble salts of such acids or mixtures of any such acids and/or salts; (3) soluble resin soaps or sodium or other soluble salts or soaps of resin acids. The impregnation may be carried out at 80‹-100‹ C. After impregnation the fabrics are piled or rolled and left for some time. Specification 280,990 is referred to.
