Abstract

317,233. Jacksan, L. Mellersh-, (Mathieson Alkali Works). Aug. 18, 1928. Calcium hypochlorite is obtained by chlorinating caustic soda, or other causticalkali, and lime in the presence of water, the. caustic alkali being in excess. The slurry is then treated with a calcium compound e.g. calcium chloride, to convert any alkali hypochlorite present to calcium hypochlorite. An example is given.
