Cable couplings.-Stranded conductors, such as aluminium or steel-aluminium cables, are connected together by clamps that engage the separate layers of wires. The outer layers of the cables d, e are successively removed so that each layer is exposed over a sufficient length to receive a pair of jaws a, b, c with clamping- screws f. The jaws a have adjacent recesses, at one side to fit the external layer of the cable d and at the other side to fit the centre layer of the cable e. The other clamps are correspondingly recessed. If both cables approach from the same direction two recesses of equal size are made in each clamp. Instead of separate clamps a single pair of clamping-plates having tapered recesses may be employed.
