Detachable propelling-installations.- In a means of propulsion for ships or boats where a detachable installation with the propeller acting on the tractor principle is used, part or parts of the under-water body are designed on counter propeller principles. Figs. 1, 2, and 3, show the blades 1 and 2 integral with the gear and propeller case. The top blade and the skeg may be pivoted and adjusted manually or automatically to the slip stream. In the latter case a damping arrangement is fitted. The cooling water is obtained from inlet 8 in the upper blade. A vane or rudder 9 is also fitted and means may be provided to protect the propeller. A similar construction may be applied to forms of detachable propelling installations other than those arranged on the tractor principle.
