Stockings and socks.- In forming stockings or other knitted fabrics wherein vertical stripes or other patterns are made by a number of independent thread guides, each of which supplies a thread to a separate needle, the striping threads are knitted into the fabric at each course by passing them either into the hooks or around the needles without entering the hooks. The striping threads thus appear either at the front of or at the back of the fabric without forming loose floating threads. The inside of a part of a stocking is shown in Fig. 1.
