312,443. Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., and Madge, E. W. March 29, 1928. Deodorizing; latex, treating.-The odour of electrophoretically deposited rubber is removed by treatment, before or after vulcanizing, with formaldehyde, or an aqueous solution of paraformaldehyde. According to an example, articles are immersed in a 20 per cent solution of formaldehyde at 60‹C for 2-3 hours, washed, and immersed in ammonia for ¢ hour to remove the smell of aldehyde. The action is accelerated by the addition of about 3 per cent of sodium carbonate to the aldehyde solution.
