Abstract
167,748. Soc. du Feutre. Aug. 12, 1920, [Convention date]. Furs and furriery.-A process for carrotting fur and hair consists in subjecting the skins to the action of a solution of alkali metal or alkaline earth metal sulphides; for example, by brushing them over with a solution of sodium monosulphide of a strength not over 4 per cent; and allowing the skins to dry in the presence of air, thereby causing oxidation of the sulphide solution and checking its destructive action upon the hair. The skins are not attacked and may be tanned after treatment by usual methods for removal of the hair. The hair may be felted immediately after removal.
