Abstract
250,575. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges., (Assignees of Farbwerke vorm. Meister, Lucius, & Br³ning). April 9, 1925, [Convention date]. Furs and furriers. - The felting properties of rabbit and hare skins are improved by treating the hair with a solution of a metallic salt other than a mercury salt and a body that facilitates the absorption of the solution by the fibre. Suitable bodies are the sulphonic acids of naphthalene compounds of high molecular weight e.g. the commercial products known as " Leonil " and those known under the Trade Marks "Nekal" and " Neomerpin." In an example the skins are brushed in the usual manner with an aqueous nitric acid solution of bismuth nitrate to which " Leonil S" is added.
