Indiarubber, preserving, preparation of.- Ageing of indiarubber is prevented by adding to it the evaporation residue of the latex serum, from which ineffective ingredients may have been removed. Serum is evaporated at reduced pressure, quebrachitol is crystalized out, and proteins are precipitated by a solution of tannic acid, or the proteins may be removed before the final evaporation. The residue may be added to the rubber in the proportion in which it natuxally occurs in the latex-about 5 per cent of the rubber,-or in larger proportion.
