Abstract
220,341. Schidrowitz, P., and Stutchbury, M. S. Feb. 21, 1923. India-rubber, preparation of; latex, treating.- Aqueous emulsions of vulcanized rubber such as the vulcanized latex described in Specification 193,451 are atomized into a gaseous drying medium to remove either a part or substantialiy all of the contained water. The dried product is a vulcanized rubber which retains its plasticity for some time and can consequently be sheeted, moulded, or extruded in the same way as crude rubber. Compounding and colouring ingredients can be incorporated with the dried product in a rubber mill or otherwise, or in suitable cases they may be added before the atomization. Suitable drying-apparatus is described in Specifications 17508/13, 107,417, 132,256, 145,079, and 162,678, [all in Class 32, Distilling &c.].
