Abstract

310,394. Partridge, H E. Jan. 24, 1928. Flat endless-belt conveyers; belts modified for troughing.-A conveyer belt 1, Fig. 1, which when in use has the sides 5 turned up to form a trough, Fig. 3, has a series of projections 4 formed on the upper surface of its centre portion 3. Each side portion 5 has a series of downwardly extending corrugations 6 which preferably taper away before they reach the beaded edges 2. The projections 4, 6 may be formed by vulcanizing or otherwise securing strips of rubber to a flat belt. The belt may be made partially or wholly of indiarubber or asbestos which may be reinforced by fabric or by metal gauze. In a modification the transverse corrugations or ribs have their ends of tapering form and are spaced from the edges of the belt.
