B a t t e r y lamps. - An electric lighting device for use in a vanity case &c. comprises an arched strip c provided with a screwed lamp socket a and with feet d by which it is secured to a plate e of insulating material; an upstanding extension f<1> of one foot carries a movable switch arm e<1> adapted to engage the terminal 1 of a battery i and a springy contact strip engaging the other battery terminal 2 is integral with a vertically-disposed strip k mounted on the plate e and engaging the base of the lamp. The battery is secured in place by a second arched strip g hinged by extensions f<11> to extensions f on the strip c and provided with a lip m for lifting purposes and to provide a rest for a hinged cover a<1> provided with one or more apertures c<1> for holding trays containing powder compacts etc.; the lamp projects through an aperture in the cover which is provided with a shade b<1> for the lamp.
