Battery lamps combined with vanity cases.- A vanity case comprises a receptacle for cosmetics, a dry' battery e<2>, a hinged lid b having a, mirror c on its inner face, an electric lamp disposed with its bulb g outside the case and in circuit with the battery and a switch g<2> in the circuit operated by the opening and closing of the lid of the case. The base of the bulb g contacts with the electrode 1 of the battery and the ends h, j of the switch g<2> contact with the side of the bulb and the electrode 2 of the battery respectively to close the circuit when the switch is slid sideways by a spring k on the opening of the lid; when the lid is closed a retaining catch m thereon moves the switch against the action of the spring k and breaks the circuit; the catch m and the lid is released by a push-button q. An inner plate d covering the battery is held in the case by spring-pressed down-turned flanges and is formed with an aperture e for a case of cosmetic. Specification 310,278 is referred to.
