Valves actuated indirectly.-In a gas stove having a pivotally mounted burner head 1 adapted to maintain the gas valve 6 open under the weight of a cooking-vessel 2 and to close it on loss of weight due to evaporation, the spring 9 supporting the free end of the burner head is carried on the long arm 11 of a bell-crank lever, the short arm 12 of which abuts against an adjusting screw 13: so that the spring 9 can be tensioned for vesselsof different weights.
