Indicators actuated by floats.-In a liquid level or quantity indicator of the type in which the indicating device is manually actuated to an extent determined by the position of a float, the float slides upon a vertical guide provided with teeth, and a slider moved by the indicator is adapted to be locked upon the guide when lowered into contact with the float. A transmission cable h, Fig. 1, carries a slider g which projects through a slot in the guide tube. A pawl k engages with teeth on the guide tube when deflected by the float l, and the indicator shows the extent to which the cable has been actuated. In an alternative, Fig. 4, the float l is conical, and the pawls k are deflected outwards into contact with an internally threaded tube b. In another alternative, Fig. 5, not shown, the float slides upon two vertical guide rods provided with teeth, and the slider is provided with two gripping devices, one associated with each rod.
