Abstract
156,030. Badois, L. March 25, 1920. Indicators actuated by floats.-A combined liquid-level indicator and filling-opening plug for petrol tanks &c. consists of a screwed cap 1 carrying a tube 4 in which is mounted a central spindle 8 forming a guide for a float 7, which so engages a helical strip 9 fixed inside the tube as to rotate a rod 13 connected to the float and to an indicating dial 17 at the top as the tube. The rod is mounted at its lower end on an arm 14 adapted to rotate about the central spindle. A bar 10 secured to the top of the float has forked ends which engage with the helical strip with the rod 13. The dial may be made convex, concave, or conical. The first divisions of the dial up to say division 10 are marked with a thick line so as to give a warning that the tank is nearly empty. The float is made of cork coated with collodion.
