Indicators actuated by floats.- In a liquid level indicator for the fuel tank of a motor vehicle, a float 7 is associated with a vertical guide 4, and carries a plate 8 in sliding engagement with a rotatable helical spindle 6<a>, so that vertical movement of the float rotates the spindle, which carries an indicating pointer. The pitch of the helix at the lower end 6 is less than at the upper end so that the level readings near the bottom are on an enlarged scale.
