Abstract
409,063. Indicating liquid levels. CARETTA, E., 19, Corso Raffaello, Turin, Italy. Dec. 2, 1932, No. 34143. Convention date, Dec. 3, 1931. [Class 123 (i).] In a liquid-level indicator employing the movement of a float 5 mounted to slide over a rod 4, a wire or cord 8 attached to a graduated tape 9 passes over fixed pulleys 7, 10. This endless member includes a spring 12, and is connected to the float by a rod 13 so that the level is indicated by the movement of the graduated tape past a fixed mark. The endless member is free to move radially in a slot in the float. Alternatively, the tape may be replaced by a continuous cord 8 and the reading taken from a rotary member. A gear wheel 16 carrying a projecting knob may be engaged with a gear wheel 17 on the drum 10, so that when desired, the float may be moved temporarily to ascertain whether it is functioning correctly or to remove an obstruction.
