Abstract

Indicators actuated by floats.-A float operable from a distance is moved vertically in the container until it comes into contact with the liquid, when it becomes locked in position and its position indicated. A vertical hollow guide member 1 is provided with a screw-threaded head 4 which is clamped to the casing by means of a flange 5 and packing washer 9. The guide is provided on one side with a toothed rack 3, and its opposite side is longitudinally slotted at 21. A sliding member 12 carries extensions 13 which move in the slot 21 and engage the cable 11. The float 20 is secured to a collar 18 pivoted at 15 and having teeth 17 engaging with the rack 3. The sleeve 12 may be moved along the guide 1 until the float is in contact with the liquid. The float then rises relatively to the sleeve 12 and is locked by the engagement of the tooth 17 with the rack 3. Specification 223,774 is referred to.
