Abstract
308,563. Ruth-Aldo Co., Inc., (Assignees of Soie de Chatillon Soc. Anon.). March 23, 1928, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Apparatus for making filaments. - A dry-spinning cell is constructed with a section E, enclosing a nozzle A, in which the atmosphere is stagnant and contains a high concentration of solvent vapour, a middle section C traversed by a current of air in the opposite 'direction to the filaments, and a section T in which the atmosphere is stagnant and contains a low concentration of solvent vapour. Hot, relatively dry air admitted by a pipe M rises through a distributing plate O into the section C and is withdrawn through an annular passage H and pipe L. The temperature in the section C is maintained by a heating jacket V. The section E carries a port G so constructed as to avoid loss of solvent vapour when the port is opened, the port being associated with aspirating means which are inoperative when the port is closed. The section T has similar ports R, S. The filaments leave the cell through an adjustable orifice.
