Apparatus for making filaments.-The outlet orifices of the cells used in the dry spinning of artificial silk are fitted so that their cross sections can be reduced or increased at will. Suitable devices are those used for the objectives of optical apparatus or iris diaphragms as used in photographic apparatus. The devices may be applied to all the orifices, through which the thread passes, such as those in the diaphragms within the cell referred to in Specification 292,561.
