Apparatus for making filaments.-To obviate disturbances during spinning due to the entry of air at the outlet orifice of the extrusion cabinet used for the dry spinning or semi-dry spinning of artificial silk &c., particularly acetate silk, the thread is led out of the cabinet c through a liquid seal l. The guide g under which the thread passes may constitute the lower edge of a sliding door d<1> by means of which access is gained to the interior of the cabinet.
