Abstract
251,680. Levy, L. A. Jan. 30, 1925. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Apparatus for making filaments. - In a process of semi-dry spinning of artificial filaments, the latter are extruded into a closed or nearly closed chamber through which is circulated air which may be heated. After leaving the chamber, the solvent remaining in the filaments is removed by passage through a setting-bath which may be heated. As shown, the filaments bare extruded at a nozzle c into a closed chamber a containing in its lower part the setting-bath e ; the filaments are withdrawn from the chamber and are subsequently collected in a centrifugal box or wound up on bobbins or on a cap-spinning or similar machine. Alternatively, the setting-bath may be arranged outside the chamber. According to the Provisional Specification, the spinning solution may be cellulose acetate in acetone, and the spinning nozzles may be of the construction described in Specification 213,138.
