Abstract
308,258. Junkers, H. March 20, 1928, [Convention date]. Driving-gear. - To keep the driving-gear between the engine and the charging pump cool, it is placed on the side of the pump remote from the engine. The crank shaft is extended and the gearing is placed in a box at the side of the pump; the pump rotor shaft is hollow, and the crank shaft extension 14 passes through it. The drive is through a lay shaft 16. The box containing the gear is enclosed as shown in the air intake 9<1> to the pump. A slipping clutch is included in the transmission gear. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also describes arrangements wherein the driving gear was at the side of the compressor remote from the engine but not within the air intake. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
