Sulphur.-Pyrites is heated in absence of air, to say 700-900‹ C., to obtain sulphur, and the residue treated with hydrochloric, acid to obtain sulphuretted hydrogen, a chloride solution, and a second residue. Pure sulphur may be obtained either by burning the sulphuretted hydrogen or by reacting it with sulphur dioxide obtained by roasting the second residue.
