Abstract
291,004. Deutsche Gasgl³hlicht Auer- Ges. May 23, 1927, [Convention date]. Sulphatizing.-Ores of titanium and of zirconium and other rare earth metals are partly sulphatized by means of gases containing sulphur dioxide and trioxide, then treated with sulphuric acid, and the resulting sulphates are roasted to oxides. The sulphur dioxide and trioxide evolved are utilized to treat further quantities of ore. Additional sulphur or sulphur dioxide may be introduced during the process. During treatment with the gases, the material is preferably agitated, and such agitation may be effected by carrying out the process in two rotary furnaces.
