Abstract
306,175. Hatch, A. W. L. Nov. 16, 1927. Look-out reflectors. - In a rear-view observation device for use on motor and like vehicles of the kind comprising an optical system adapted to receive light from the rear of the vehicle and to transmit it to a second optical system, whence it is directed towards the driver, the first optical system comprises a pair of mirrors 10, 14 arranged after the manner of a periscope and supported in a casing 4 on the roof of the vehicle, the mirrors being mounted, preferably adjustably, adjacent to apertures in the casing. The second optical system may comprise, as shown, a single mirror 18 adapted to reflect the light! through a transparent panel 20 in the hood 1. The casing 4 may be angularly adjustable on its supports, and the mirrors may be arranged to give a suitable degree of magnification. According to the first Provisional Specification the second optical system may also comprise, two mirrors arranged periscope-fashion, the light proceeding between the two systems along a tube disposed beneath the vehicle floor.
